Writings from Dushna pasha - Pasture of the soul

Written by bishop baraga

Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament speaks to the soul:
My friend! Rise up and come to me. Arise from your sinful
sleep, from your laziness and indifference. Do you not see how
your heart is bound to the world and sometimes slain by temporal
things? – I am the living bread; the bread of the mighty that gives
strength and true life. Rise up, my dear soul! You who are so
feeble, quickly come to me with heartfelt desires and fervent love.
However greater are your desires and love for me, that much
greater will be the grace, love and might as your reward from me.
Suppress the wicked desires within yourself so the holy desires will
have more room in your heart. Empty and cleanse your heart of all
love that goes against me, and my love will then fill it completely.

The soul replies to Jesus:
I have searched for Him whom I love, but I did not find
Him as I still lacked true resolve to rise from my sinful sleep. I still
lack the strong desire to never again separate myself from him and
always love him heartily. – Now I want to rise up and give myself
to you, my Jesus! Enough with my spiritual slumber and sinful
indifference. With great trust I come to you and call: O Jesus, Son
of David! Have mercy on me. Confirm me with the strength of
your Holy Spirit, O almighty Jesus! This will be enough for me to
heartily conquer all my enemies and tempters. – O, how frightful
and deep would my falls be if you, O Jesus, did not wondrously
protect me through the Most Blessed Sacrament! – Confirm me
even more, O Most Holy Redeemed Body, so I may remain
completely in your love and never fall or consent to any sin again.
Glory, praise, and love to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament,
now and forever. Amen.
Our Father…Hail Mary…Glory be…
