Writings from Dushna pasha - Pasture of the soul
Written by bishop baraga
Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament speaks to the soul:
My friend! You are beautiful and your appearance is
pleasing for you are washed in the blood I have poured out for you.
You are beautiful whenever you are adorned with the holy virtues:
love, humility, obedience, patience, modesty. Such beauty comes
from me and bears witness that you are my friend, my beloved
bride who pleases me. Such beauty is attained by whoever receives
me in the Blessed Sacrament through good preparation, love and
devotion. I instill my image in that person’s heart so he may always
have my example before his eyes, and live by it.
The soul replies to Jesus:
O my Jesus! I am ashamed to hear your voice because I am
wretched and un-virtuous, as I have defiled myself through sin. – O
Jesus! Always cleanse me more and more through the worthy
reception of your Most Holy Redeemed Body. – You show your
holy face only to those who are of clean heart. The others look
upon you, and you lovingly give them warning. O my
compassionate Jesus! You, who have taken me as your bride only
out of grace and love, give me that beauty which pleases you!
Adorn me with your love and all the beautiful virtues, which love
comprehends in itself. Cleanse my heart, my Jesus, and present me
with the wedding clothes of justice and faith, so I may always
worthily come to the holy table of my heavenly bridegroom.
Glory, praise and love to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament,
now and forever. Amen.
Our Father…Hail Mary…Glory be…
