Writings from Dushna pasha - Pasture of the soul

Written by bishop baraga

Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament speaks to the soul:
Beloved soul, my bride! Be humble of heart and accepting
of scorn. Never seek glory and praise from the world, but desire
only to please me in all your conduct and ways. – You see me lying
under the weight of the cross, scorned and kicked. And here in the
Most Blessed Sacrament you see me, only out of love and humility,
concealed in a tiny morsel of bread, little known or venerated. –
You, dear soul! Look here upon my throne with eyes of living faith,
approach me with trust that you will find mercy and grace
whenever you are in need of help. – If the abundance and
greatness of your previous sins make you despair, or if your
wounded conscience burns you, lift up your eyes towards me with a
penitent heart, trust and love; and remember that I am the
innocent Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. I will
also take them away from you, beloved soul, my beloved bride! If
only you truly convert to me and remain in me to the end.

The soul replies to Jesus:
O merciful Jesus, my most beloved bridegroom! Whenever
I have the joy of receiving you who are humble of heart, my heart
is also more inclined towards humility! And whenever I think of
you being scorned and lying under the cross, and concealed with
great humility in the Most Blessed Sacrament, holy humility seems
even dearer to me. – Most beloved Jesus, humble of heart! How
ashamed I am before you! You are the almighty eternal King of
heaven and earth; I am but a poor sinful being. You are eternal
light; I am loathsome, ugly darkness. You are eternal love; I am so
often wicked and hateful toward you and my neighbor. Oh, yet
you still come to me, give me yourself to partake, join with me and
live in me! O my Jesus! Following your example, and with your
grace and help, I now want to be truly humble so I may always
truly worthily receive you in the Most Blessed Sacrament of your
humble love! –
Glory, praise and love to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament,
now and forever. Amen.
Our Father… Hail Mary…Glory be…
